I can always invite people over when I visit, even though I don't live at home anymore and they are all welcome to share dinner or anything. My parents had my cousins, friends or other people over for christmas all the time, basically everyone who didn't have a place to spend the holidays was welcome to join us. My hubby basically became their 4th child (kinda) and is treated equally with everything (presents/gifts for christmas or birthdays as well as household duties).
When we visit his parents his mom makes us feel like it is a burden to have us over for the weekend because she needs to cook for more people, needs to make beds for us or bake a cake (we never stay longer than 2 nights, it's just not a very "welcoming atmosphere"). Plus we actually have to call at least 3 days in advance otherwise she is super pissed when we spontaneously decide to visit them. Needless to say we keep visits to a minimum!Irenenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36379445.post-4118333904225968112009-07-17T05:38:46.678-04:002009-07-17T05:38:46.678-04:00Aw your girlie day with Munchkin sounds wonderful....Aw your girlie day with Munchkin sounds wonderful. I hope you both have a great time catching up :)

I often think the same about my in-laws. They're all so close and everyone just comes and go's as they please and you're always welcome. And I've been accepted in by them all - it's wonderful :) Of course I still like the cozy little family of five we are in my own family as well. I get the best of both worlds. I feel very spoilt at times :)boohoohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10356984519402775537noreply@blogger.com
