Since last Friday's seriousness went over like a concrete balloon, I am going to try and be a little more interactive this week.
The topic for discussion is calling your spouse/boyfriend/girlfriend at work.
Do you do it? Does he or she call you? How often? Do others in your office do it? Are you a fan? Inappropriate?
Discuss.

I call my husband in the office almost daily. But then, I only let it ring once and hang up, so that he can call back if he isn't that busy or just don't call back if he's in a meeting.
I don't think it's inappropriate as long asI'm not keeoing him from work. Those calls are seldom over 3 minutes, so I don't think it's too bad :)
How do you do this with your man?
I don't have a bf currently, but when I did, we would text. I don't have a job at the moment either, but when I had the bf, I had a job, and so texting was the norm for both of us. There were a few times when I had to call him, and I would, but for the most part, we would just text.
Love this topic! Generally speaking, I am NOT a fan of personal phone calls while I am at work. I just don't feel like I can have a real conversation with my (nosy) co-workers walking around listening to bits and pieces of my conversation. Fortunately, my husband feels the same - if I do need something I don't hesitate to call but mostly I just email or g-chat any personal conversations during the work day.
I don't make a lot of personal calls at work. However some of my coworkers do -- and some of them even fight with their partner on the phone...and we have an open office enviro -- which makes it great!
My husband works days in surgery at a hospital. When he's at work, he's usually in an operating room. Without his phone. Worrying about life and death, not about calling his wife. =)
That said, in a previous role, he only worked 3 days a week, sometimes 3 nights a week. So, he was home A LOT when I was at work. In those days, he called me all the time. And it was cool - my job is something I can take breaks from. So long as I get my work done, people don't care whether you take a personal call here and there.
That said, I rarely talk to friends while at work. I can count 2 friends who know my work number and they almost never use it. Maybe once a month do I take a call from a friend while at work.
We've had an eventful last 6 months with our house issues, so we've had to talk on the phone while at work. Generally I don't care to chat at work though because it's just that much later that I'm here. I am paid by the hour, so I don't count any time I'm on the phone (more than a minute) in my hours. It definitely irks me when people who receive a salary take extended personal calls (particularly if its my assistant:)--unless there's a good reason.
I don't think it's inappropriate necessarily, we just don't do it. But we're also in contact on gchat, email, or text throughout the day. So there's that.
Hubby calls my cell phone usually while I'm at work once a day. It's just a quick check in and never lasts more than a couple minutes. I don't ever call him bc he can't have his phone on while he's working the planes. It works for us.
