(Other people's) Baby News

Seriously, no food ideas? I thought I had some serious foodies as readers, and yet no one has a suggestion for ski trip food? (Laurwilk being the divine exception:-)) You really disappoint me, folks...

It's super warm today! Of course, that is a relative term...it is supposed to get to 50, maybe. But for February around here, that is about as good as you could possible hope for. Warm enough to walk around without a coat (provided you have a heavy sweater, of course.) I walked out my front door this morning and saw two really beautiful Blue Jays nibbling on something on the sidewalk...I figured that was probably a good sign, no?

Based on a gchat conversation yesterday, I called an old friend that I hadn't talk to in a bit. I mentioned her very briefly in a post a very long time ago about her super hot boyfriend (now husband). Anyway, I realized that I hadn't talked to her in forever, so I called her yesterday to catch up. And found out that she is having a baby:-) Actually, I found out that the two of them had, within the last hour, decided that it was time to tell people (other than the family that they had already told), so I was the first person that she got to tell and not have to keep ot a secret. So, there is your lesson for the day...call old friends, because you may get some good news!

Finally, I have a devious plan. I have mentioned it before. I need any of my readers in the Detroit area to contact me immediately...you can do it by comment, email or gChat (me.accidentally@gmail.com). Come to think of it, if you have any good friends in the Motor City, you should get in touch, too. OK...get to it.

Haha, awww I'm excited they are having a baby! I like that couple.

Another cooking idea I thought of was to maybe have the girls make supper one night (if they would want to). I think that could fun and they might really enjoy it! I would keep it easy (macaroni or something?) but they really might have a lot of fun with that! Have them earn their keep! :) I can remember cooking with my friends in middle school once and it was so funny and we had so much fun. Or maybe they could at least make some brownies/cookies?

I think I've exhausted my Detroit friends. Sorry! :(

I'd suggest Chili as that warms the body and tastes sooooo good after carving up the slopes. Speaking of Chili, it's a brisk 61 degrees here - cold for southern California .... ~Good Cheers !

I was actually thinking food ideas this morning and meant to post a comment. What about a taco bar? Its pretty simple, everyone loves tacos (I think) and you can do a few different types of meat.

Another idea I had was enchiladas -- those are always yummy and you can bake them in the oven.

You're going to fix the auto industry? Oh, that is so glorious! The people of Detroit thank you!

hi, 1st time reader but catching up on your older posts.

As to ski food, what about quesadillas? If you're really adventurous, you can make different kinds of filling and have each person make their own. For example, provide various filling material like ground beef, shrimp, chicken, diced onions, diced bell peppers, diced mushrooms, and different kinds of cheese. I made a filling with beef, mushrooms, onions, and bell peppers and added some bbq sauce and a little bit of soy sauce to flavor it with a little bit of mozarella chese. It was the easiest and simplest dinner this week.
