Prepare to cry. And smile. And cry some more.

Short post today. First, it looks like Obama's vacation is only two days...not the five that I heard. Still, he wouldn't be going if he wasn't 100% sure he was winning big.

Munchkin cracks me up...seriously, that kid has everything figured out. Much more than I did at her age, or maybe even do now. You can probably guess how things went at school...people ask why they are broken up, she and the boyfriend each tell their friends (probably different stories;-)) and then by the afternoon, she has become a prude and a goody-goody. About which she said to me..."How come I am supposed to be offended by that? I will happily be that." That's my girl...the class good girl:-)

And, if that is genetic, it doesn't come from your big sister...

Two things from Laurwilk today. One, she gave me a blog award, which is actually my very first blog award ever. I would be lying if I said that I had never been at least a little dissapointed to have never gotten one. So, thanks for that, sweetie:-)

Second, she sent me a link to this blog, which is simultaneously heartbreaking and inspiring. It is written by a single father who lost his wife the day after she gave birth to their first child. Beware, you are going to cry at you desk. Maybe a lot. But, it can also be quite inspirational. On a personal level, it actually stirs a lot of emotions, but I can't go into that without bawling all day, and I have a couple of meetings to go to;-)

You have installed some good confidence in that girl. She'll never be one to buckle under peer pressure, for that you should be very, very VERY thankful.

A friend of mine sent me the matt, liz and maddy blog quite some time ago. I have been following him for 6 months now and it's so heartbreaking. He's such an amazing father!

Munchin sounds like the sweetest thing! That's so awesome that she doesn't let what the other kids say affect her. She sounds so independent and strong - something tells me she learned it from you. You should be so proud. And congrats on the blog award!

I don't think I think the same way as you on the Obama thing. His grandmothers doctor is the one who told him to come and since he wasn't there when his own mom died, I think it's more of a 'he would go no matter what the polls said' than going because he's so sure he's going to win.

It's a screwed situation either way though- I mean, if he DOES go, people assume he's overconfident, and if he DOESN'T go- he's the guy not visiting his grandmother on her birthday when she's sick.

I am thankful I am not a politician. Okay, off to read the link! Have a good Friday!

Brandy - If he hadn't said anything about it, it never would have been a story. He is totally and completely teflon at this point...nothing sticks to him. I think he wanted to go and see her, so he is going. But, be assured, if this race were close, he wouldn't take two days off...

And, I don't think anybody feels like he is OVERconfident. Mostly, he has a really accurate view of things, which is that he is going to win unless he does something collossaly stupid. It ain't being cocky if it's true;-)
