Fall Plans

OK...announcement number two is that I am going back to school in the fall. I was a little up in the air, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that this really is something that I want to do.

It means quitting my job (well, taking a two year break) and borrowing a grotesquely large sum of money. And it will also mean a year of real misery (the first year is notoriously hard, the second much easier). Likely, a lot less blogging:-(

When I am done, however, I will have substantially more earning power...but mostly I will just feel really proud of myself. Little ghetto welfare girls who grow up in public housing don't get to go to schools like that. They don't really go to business school at a high rate, either.

The Boy is totally on board with this, and has encouraged me to go back pretty much from the beginning. Since he knows exactly what I am in for, and knows exactly how much time and effort it will take, it means a lot to have him as excited about this as he is. Munchkin has been hoping for years that I went back when it was time for her to go to college so we could share a dorm room...

So, I sent back my acceptance and my deposit yesterday. I am officially a member of the class of 2011 at Famous Fancy Business School:-)

--------------------

Total other subject...do you ever really wish that you could comment on some blogs by telling people exactly what you really think? There are two things that have happened in the blogosphere recently that I am just dying to call people out on...but I find that I just can't bring myself to offend anyone that directly. Funny, even under the cloak of anonymity, I am feeling shy...

Good luck to you! I know it must feel good to have made your decision.
What school?

Oooohh, I love blog drama!

Congrats on grad school. That's a huge decision and I'm sure it's a huge relief to have made your final decision. Too bad you can't begin your two-year hiatus from work this summer to spend it at the beach with Munchkin. =)

As far as your nerves about calling other bloggers out ... I think it all depends on which blogger. Some bloggers are open to constructive criticism (so long as you're gentle when you convey it). Others only want to hear glowing remarks. I'd say if you think the blogger can handle it, dish it out.

Congratulations on going back to school! Big decision, I know, but well worth the investment.

Very intrigued by this blog drama. I really want the back-story on that. But yes, I've had that feeling before -- never do speak my mind though. What is the point?

I've told you before but you are awesome! I admire your determination and ability to overcome the obstacles you've been dealt in life. Most people don't get up when they are knocked down. And, the blog drama is fun. I've totally wanted to comment when I know I shouldn't so I don't but if one of those blogs was mine yesterday, feel free to bust me out. I was in a HORRIBLE mood yesterday with all things wedding related and I put up a pretty nasty blog entry. After a nice long run around Naperville, IL I decided it best to delete it. All I have to say is, I hope your wedding planning is going better than mine. I assume no news is good news on your wedding plans so that is awesome...maybe that's tomorrow's post? :)

Congrats on making the decision to go back to school! So few folks do that after getting into the work force. I'm with Nilsa; wouldn't it be awesome if you could spend your entire summer with Munchkin!?!?

Are you kidding me? I comment all of the time and say what I think. I figure if you don't want a bunch of random people commenting on your drama, don't put it out there. Or don't open up comments. Hence, no blog for me! I am proud to admit that I caused one person to not accept anonymous comments anymore. I really wan't even that brutal - just honest.

And hey, congrats on the grad school. Deciding to do that is hard under the easiest of circumstances. Doing it with kids, wedding, new husband, etc. says a lot. And props on the locale if it's where I think it is. Be proud of yourself for that alone! Yay for you!

Nilsa and Happy - Oh, I have definitely thought about it! How awesome would it be to work in the same place? I could be her boss! Unfortunately, leveraged finance pays a little better than scooping ice cream, and I need to save as much as I can before I take two years off from working!

Congrats! I don't have a ton of time for G-Chat lately with moving and everything but I want to know what school you ended up chooosing. Also, I didn't know you were on the Yucatan Peninsula. I'm going to be there in one week for my 30th bday. Can't wait!

Wheeee! Good for you. The first year might be tough, but you are SO ready. Seriously. I can feel it.

To listen to you talk, you don't need any more earning power!

Hey that sounds like a great plan! I'm glad you finally came to the right decision for you :)

I am intritgued by the blog drama... I agree with one of your other commenters: if you don't want people to comment on your life don't have comments on your blog. I never used to have comments cos I didn't want people judging me but then I just went for it cos comments are fun - the good and bad ones :)

Aaron - There is a difference between one's own earning power, and the earning power of those around her;-)
