Freud, are you there?

Good morning all...back to a little more normal posting schedule, at least for the rest of the week.

Weird thing happened last night, and I don't really know what to make of it. I will appreciate any insight...

Munchkin fell asleep in my bed last night (yea, we were watching TV in bed...you have a problem with that?) I know it is probably not healthy, but I always kind of let her sleep wherever she falls. Usually it is her own bed, but sometimes it is mine or the couch...I don't see the point in moving her.

Anyway, I cleaned a bit, did the dishes and some other random stuff and then went in to bed later. When I went into the room, she woke up for a second and said "Mom?" and then when she realized it was me, she said "Oh, I thought it was Mom" and fell back asleep. I am not even sure she was awake, to be honest...it all happened in about 10 seconds.

So, I am not really sure what to make of it. Was she having a dream about our Mother? Probably. Is that significant of anything? Beats me. She didn't say anything this morning, and I didn't ask her. My guess is that she doesn't remember anyway...and its not like she had a pained or restless sleep.

I dunno. But, I do know that her birthday party is this weekend, and that should be fun:-).

She probably was dreaming. Just curious though, does she consider you her mother or still just a sister at this point?

Anne - Good question. I would say like 80% sister at least. She calls me "Mom" sometimes but usually it is in the context of something else. And I think she talks to me much more like a sister than a mother. But, I am so much older than her, that we have always had kind of a different relationship that sisters would normally have. And that was even before she came to live with me.

I'm pretty sure she was asleep and wouldn't remember it at all. It's fairly normal. I mean, my mother died 10 years ago Saturday and I still dream about her most nights, so it wouldn't be odd if I were woken up mid dream and called to her. It all seems really normal to me.

Still just me said...

She was sleeping. My father died when I was 14, but I sometimes call my husband "Daddy" when I am half-asleep.

Pretty interesting...I wouldn't know what to make of it either, but she probably was having a dream about your mother.

Also, she probably feels like you are her caregiver, so you are a lot like your mother. And she relates you to that, as well.

That's interesting...so tough to tell what things like that mean, if anything. But I love that you care enough to try.

Have a fabulous time with her birthday party!
