I can't believe that not one reader scolded me for promoting pre-marital sex and yelled at me for not preaching abstinence above all else to the little one. C'mon...I know someone must have wanted to say it...
So, our bitter cold snap seems to have passed, and it has actually been pretty nice outside for the last couple of days. I think yesterday got up to almost 50 (which seems like beach weather when it was 8 the day before) and today is kind of the same. Some of the ice is finally melting, which makes it easier to use sidewalks, so that's good.
Munchkin has her first ever official date on Friday after school. They usually get out of school at 5:00, but this Friday they are done early so all of the teachers can go to a team-building exercise. Since they are done at 3:00, the Little Dreamboat asked Munchkin to go out for pizza right after school. How cute is that? Smoking Hot Roommate is making some noise about leaving work to crash her date...what do we think? She reads this, so you can give her your opinions of that;-)
That's about all I have...some sort of big doings at work, so I was super busy yesterday and will be this afternoon, too...so short blog entry. I don't really have much else to say anyway;-)

An afterschool pizza date! Too cute.
This is really scaring me. My youngest is 10, Munchkin is 11 right? I am not ready for her to be going out for pizza with a boy. On the other hand, I don't think she is either.
SHR should go have her own date and leave Munchkin alone. I would assume that Munchkin will have enough trauma from the date alone...much less someone crashing it!
Plus, since Munchkin knows it's cool to have pre-marital sex...who knows what all will be going on at the pizza parlor.
AM, you know my thoughts on premarital sex, and you know that I'm not going to scold you:) I think that at a minimum you should discuss that option with her (waiting), explaining why some people choose to do so (and not just citing the avoidance of disease and how multiple partners skyrockets your chances of contracting HPV/having cervical cancer). But in the context of your post yesterday, I didn't see this as relevant. Meaning that I think it's best that you're honest with Munchkin and not having the Boy spend the night doesn't change the truth, which she knows (since she asked). In my mind the ban on sleepovers didn't promote or discourage abstinence to Munchkin. Anyway, given everything I know, it sounds like you're handling this with maturity and honesty so bravo.
I actually don't think it would be a bad idea that this date be chaperoned. They are a bit young to be going unsupervised. Then again it might embarrass the heck out of Munchkin. But that's just my opinion.
Not that you asked, but I agree with Ella. I'm sort of surprised his mom didn't call you to coordinate this anyway.
my youngest is 11... I can't imagine a "date" yet... yikes
Multiple partners increases the risk of cervical cancer? Huh?
My unfounded opinion states that 11 is a little young to be calling anything a "date", doncha think? No problem with them hanging out, but I wouldn't start throwing around the "date" word just yet. Supervision of some sort certainly couldn't hurt at this date. Even if you were there but not at the table.
